Did you read about how he died of a heart attack? He had moved to LA to help with the movie and joined a gym. Oops.

There was a wonderful gloss on Adams' death: some Linux developers went on a cruise only days after he died, and one of the devs was married to an Englishwoman, who bitterly accused the across-the-pond cousins: "You Americans killed Doug Adams! He would never have gone to a gym in England!"
